GOOGLE ADSENSE TIPS

Tip #1: Don't put ads on empty pages

When I reworked my site, I built a skeleton set of pages that had no content, just titles and some meta tags. I displayed ads on those pages, however. Although all you see are public service ads at first, the very act of displaying ads on a page causes the AdSense web crawler to quickly fetch that page for analysis. A page with good content will thus begin showing relevant paying ads fairly quickly.

If you don't have any content, then, Google will have to guess as what your page is about. It may guess wrong, and so the ads that it displays may not be relevant. You'll have to wait until Google re-crawls the site for the ads to correct themselves. Here is what Google had to say when I asked them about how often the AdSense crawler updates a site:

Thank you for taking the time to update your site. New ads will start appearing
on your site the next time our crawler re-indexes your site. Unfortunately at
this time, we are unable to control how often our crawlers index the content on
your site.

Crawling is done automatically by our bots. When new pages are added to your
website or introduced to the AdSense program, our crawlers will usually get to
them within 30 minutes. If you make changes to a page, however, it may take up
to 2 or 3 weeks before the changes are reflected in our index. Until we are able
to crawl your web pages, you may notice public service ads, for which you will
not receive any earnings.

It's better to flesh out the page before you start displaying ads on it.

Tip #2: Don't be afraid to ask questions

If you're wondering about something, don't be afraid to ask Google. So far, they've always responded to my questions within a working day. There are two email addresses to use, depending on the type of question:

Please feel free to email us at adsense-tech@google.com if you have
additional technical questions or concerns. For general program or account
questions, please email
adsense-support@google.com.
Their responses are always very polite, and they appreciate getting problem reports and suggestions.

Tip #3: Avoid non-English characters on English pages

This one is a bug, to be honest. My surname is French, and I prefer to write it out correctly with the accent grave on the first "e". Every page on my site would then include at least two accented letters, because my name shows up twice in the footer. On some pages my name shows up two or three more times.
Normally, this wouldn't be an issue. But on some pages the presence of the accented characters is enough to cause AdSense to display non-relevant ads in French. This happens whether the browser indicates a preference for French or not. When I reported this to Google, this is the answer they gave me:

Hello Monalisa,
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.
We are currently working as quickly as we can to address this problem. As soon as
we have more information for you, we will email you again. We appreciate your patience.

Sincerely,

The Google Team

Tip #4: Check your keyword density

Although Google doesn't release exact details as to how they determine the ads to serve on a given page, they do tell us that it's the text content of the page that matters, not the meta tags. Before serving ads on a page, then, you might want to check its keyword density. A good, free tool for doing this is found here:

http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html
This lets you fine-tune the page before exposing it to the AdSense crawler.

ADSENSE : AFFILIATE ALTERNATIVES

The Rise and Fall of Affiliate ProgramsAffiliate programs were once a great source of online revenue, a savvy webmaster with an eye for marketing could easily parley a site into a money making machine with a little luck and effort.

However, the evolution and growth of the Internet has hampered the growth of fortune making affiliate programs. Constant search engine algorithm changes, along with the search engine's clear distaste for sites participating in affiliate programs; have made it a little more difficult to earn a healthy affiliate revenue.

An influx in the use of software programs that terminate cookie tracking and privacy programs that prevent webmasters from tracking referrers, have also hindered the affiliate sales channel.

While it is still possible to make money through affiliate marketing, other alternatives ought to be considered.A Healthy Alternative or SupplementGoogle's Adsense program allows approved websites to dynamically serve Google's pay-per-click Adword results.

This has become a popular alternative and an effective revenue sharing program for webmasters. Google's spider parses the adserving website and serves ads that relate to the website's content.

While the Google's Adsense program still has some issues, they are making efforts to improve it. The website maintenance related to Adsense is very easy and requires very little effort.

Webmasters need only to insert javascript into the webpage or website template. The javascript calls the ad from Google and will ensure that ads are served each time a visitor goes to the webpage. If the visitor clicks one of the Adsense ads served to the website, the website owner is credited for the referral. The implementation, while simple, has its drawbacks.

Google dictates the format of the ads. Webmasters can select from a handful of preformatted text boxes that lack creativity. A recent improvement allows webmasters to modify the ad boxes to resemble the website's color scheme.

Still, a far cry from some of the creative ads webmasters are accustom to.The example below reflects how the color scheme can be modified to match the look of the website, but the ads physically don't fit well into the overall website design. sample modified to match sites color scheme:http://www.hospital-software.com (scroll to the bottom)

Google determines the content of the ads that are shown/
Sometimes the ads are poorly targeted, and of no interest to the website visitors.
Not that the Google Adsense program is not without its problems,as the reporting provided by Google is lacking. Google has not implemented any way to track multiple sites that serve ads; they simply show the number of ads served, the percentage of clicks received, and the revenue earned each day.

Google does not disclose the amount of the revenue they share, what percentage of the revenue they earn and what someone can expect to receive for each click. Webmasters with multiple sites will have difficulty determining which websites are producing the money in the Adsense program.

With affiliate programs many webmasters implement a new browser launch with each click off the site, Adsense removes the visitor from the website and there is not currently an option to launch the visitor into another browser.

Early on Google implemented a filtering system that allowed webmasters to prevent a specific domain's ads from being served on the website. Ad blocking meant that webmasters could prevent their competitors ads from being dynamically served on their website.

Overall, adwords are great supplements to websites where affiliate programs are either not performing or when affiliate programs don't exist that target the sites content.

Give it a TryImplementing and maintaing Google Adsense program on a content site requires very little effort and can often bring a steady stream of additional revenue for webmasters. Consider supplementing content and see what happens.

5 WAYS TO BOOST GOOGLE ADSENSE EARNINGS BY 700%

Google AdSense is a great way for webmasters to monetize their websites.
While many webmasters are struggling hard to earn $3 - $10 per day, some 'genius' webmasters have already enjoyed $30, $100, and even $300 a day from AdSense ads on their websites.
How are these 'genius' webmasters differ from their counterparts?
They think different! They think out of the box!

Let me share with you some tips which has been responsible in boosting my AdSense profits by 700%.
Here are 5 of them, and if you follow these steps, I'm sure you'll see a difference in your AdSense income.

Here are the tips:

1- I concentrate on 1 format of AdSense ad, which is the Large Rectangle (336x280). This format has been proven to work with me in resulting high click-through rates (CTR). Why this format? Because the ads look like normal web
links, and people are trained to click on these types of links.

2- I create custom palette for my ads. I choose white as the color for the border and background. This is because, all of my pages have white background. The idea is to make the AdSense ads look like they are a part of my web pages.

3- Previously, I put all my AdSense ads at the bottom of my pages. One day, I moved those ads to the top of the page. The result surprised me. My earning increased! Since then, I don't hide my AdSense ads anymore!

4- I maintain some links to other relevant websites, and I put my AdSense ads at the top of the links, so that my visitors see them first.

5- I automate the insertion of AdSense code into my webpages using SSI (server side included). You'll need to ask your web administrator whether your server supports SSI or not. Here's how to do it. You just put the AdSense code
in a text file, save it as 'adsense.txt', and upload it to the root directory of your web server. Next, call the code on other pages using SSI.

This trick is really a time saver especially for those who use automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

Try these tips today, and I guarantee your AdSense earnings will improve.

The only thing you need to find out all there is to know about Adsense is a search engine and a bit of common sense. There are literally hundreds of forums where you can pick up all the information you need, as well as hundreds of articles that have been written on the subject of Adsense.

What I can tell you from my own experience is this:

1. Ads at the top of the page and on the left of the page perfom better than any other ads. (Take a look at the "heatmap" from the Google link below)

2. Ads without background colour and borders perfom better than ads within borders with background colour.

3. Ads within content pages perform better than any other ads.

4. A search box on every page gives you another chance for earning Adsense income.

5. Your link at the top of the ad should be blue like a normal link, the ad should be black, and the url should also be black so that it blends in with the ad copy. That makes the link stand out and gives you a better chance of someone clicking on it.

Google has brought out some great Adsense optimization tips.

5 TOP TIPS FOR MAXIMIZING YOUR ADSENSE PROFITS

1:
The ideal Google AdSense page should have great content about a very specific topic.

Take pains to be very clear about what the topic is, and carefully choose the keyword (or key phrase) describing the topic.
Users don’t like vague pages that don’t make it very clear what the page is all about.
Don’t even think about trying to 'trick' AdSense.
(They have penalties, including getting kicked out.)
Don't create a page on one topic and give it a file name about a different topic—that’s too confusing.
In a nutshell, you want to make sure the page you create offers great value to people interested in the topic.
When you provide excellent information on a specific topic, your visitors will benefit and will be more likely to click through to relevant AdWords.

2:
Everyone’s seen way too many horizontal banner ads up top. Thus, Google recommends you choose the vertical -- not horizontal -- format to display your AdWords. I agree. People have become "banner blind" to a horizontal format. Plus, Google has "trained" us to click on relevant text ads on their own site and they use the vertical format.

3:
It’s to your financial advantage to put the AdWords near the top of your page on the right. Make sure there is enough "breathing room" -- i.e. white space around the ads -- so that they will easily attract your visitors.

4:
The latest marketing tests have revealed that placing pictures beside, or above you’re a ads can have a massive impact on click-thru rates. This is because the eye is immediately attracted to the picture, once they see the picture, they see the ad!

5:
I know it’s tempting, because it seems so easy and it’s just sitting there waiting for you to do it, but do not click on the AdWords displayed on your own site to increase your revenue. Google (rightfully) frowns on this. Plus, Google has some of the smartest engineers around, and they are very good at detecting this kind of fraud. And really, for an extra $1, is it worth getting kicked out of a money-maker like AdSense? I think not…

4 WAYS TO GET RELEVANT ADSENSE ADS ON YOUR SITE

If you're an active Adsense publisher,
I'm sure you have seen irrelevant Adsense ads on your site.

Right?

I've experienced them too.

Not only these ads do not relate to your website content,
they will not get clicked as well.

Recently I've figured out several ways how to solve this problem.

1- Try adding META tags to your web page.
The most important tags are TITLE, DESCRIPTION and KEYWORDS.

2- Rename your html file.
Don't use a generic name.
Instead, use your keyword(s) as your file name.
For example, if the page is about making money with Adsense,
simply name it make-money-with-adsense.htm.

3- Try refreshing your page again and
again until you see relevant ads displayed.
You can refresh the page by clicking on the refresh button,
or pressing F5 key on your keyboard.

4- If any of the above tricks do not work,
you can send an email to Google Adsense Support
telling them about the problem.
Don't hesitate.
Their support team will reply to your email shortly.
I've experienced this problem with several sites of mine,
and it was solved 2-3 days after contacting Google Adsense team.

A BEGINNERS GUIDE FOR ADSENSE & ADWORDS

GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Adwords: The program advertisers use to make their adverts.
Adsense: The program Website owners use to display the adverts
CTR : Click Through Rate
(the number of page impressions/the number of clicks on a advert)

The most effective methods of advertising on the internet are Google's Adwords program and Overture which is now officially called Yahoo Search Marketing but still universally known as Overture.

This method of advertising is called Pay per Click or PPC. The concept is incredibly simple; Google and Yahoo provide listings on a Per bid basis.
You bid a certain amount of money for your specific keywords when someone types in a keyword and you have the highest bid then your advert shows up.

On Google the adverts show up in the Adwords column on the right hand side of the page whilst Yahoo shows them as sponsored links at the top of the page.
If someone then clicks on your advert, they arrive at your web site and you are charged the amount you bid.

So, for example if you bid $.10 per click on 'widgets', and that's the highest bid, you'll show up at the top if It's the second highest bid you'll show up second etc. If 100 people click on your advert, then the search engine or PPC service will charge you $10.00.Using Adwords to your Advantage. So now that you know how Adwords work you can use this to your advantage when building websites.

If you build a site about a specific subject you can then use specific keywords to attract adverts. The best way to ascertain which keywords to use are by signing up for an Adwords account you will then have access to Google’s Adwords tools which will show you which keywords are highest paying for a particular subject.

In addition it will suggest alternative keywords. At this point it is probably wise to point out it is against Google’s Terms of Service to specifically create a page just to target Adsense, Obviously if the site has lots of unique content then you are entitles to tweak the keywords to maximize your revenue.Making Adsense payThere is very little point adding Adsense to a page with no traffic.

It is best to build your site and spend a couple of months driving traffic to the site, once you have a regular amount of people being driven to your site by the search engines then it is time to add Adsense. It is not just a case of putting Adsense on your site and waiting for the money to roll in.

You should place the adverts carefully to maximize exposure whilst not impacting on the browsing experience of your viewers. Leave the Ads in position for a week or 2 and monitor the performance known as CTR. The change the position of the ads and the color and monitor this for any improvements. Publishers have been known to improve their CTR by up to 4 times by employing small changes. So time spent tweaking Adsense is time well spent.
